This week we thought we do the interview blog a bit differently and interview Forrestfield Sales Team Antony Doolin & Stephen Motteram. They work together at our Forrestfield office servicing Forrestfield, High Wycombe and surrounding areas.
Why Real Estate?
AD: Its fun and diverse no two days are the same and its always building character.
SM: I have always enjoyed working with people and had an interest in property since I bought my first block of land at age 19. Working in real estate combines the two. Buying, selling and then moving is one of the biggest investment decisions people make, and it is a great privilege to be able to help make client's property plans and dreams come true.
Briefly explain your roles and what an average day in the office & why work as a team?
AD: My role varies massively depending on the activity in the market one hour I can be door knocking looking for new business to then writing an offer and then into an appraisal. There is a lot of time and effort that is also put into marketing campaigns it’s not just writing an ad in 5 mins and putting it on the net there is a lot more to it. You have to think of your market and then where will they look how do we find them and attract them to the property.
We work as a team as it make us more diverse we cannot get on with everybody so with the two of us and we have different personalities it allows us to be able to communicate with a broader market not only that but if one is away on holiday or is sick then the other person is still working for our vendors.
SM: Antony and I teamed up early in 2016. Apart from the fact that I enjoy working with people, I believe as a team we can provide our clients with an increased comprehensive service. Two for the price of one is always a great deal. We both bring different personalities and a slightly different skill set which I believe again increases the quality of service we offer. Two heads are often better than one when it comes to problem solving and offering clients diverse and unique marketing strategies tailored for their individual needs. It also means that if we ever take a day off, there is always one of us working for our clients. The added bonus for us is that our business is still working even when we do get that time off.
As for an average day in the office, other than my first coffee in the office, my goal is that no day is ever average. Whether it be from hitting the phones promoting current property listings, speaking with prospective future clients drumming up new business, meeting face to face with people, or planning new strategies, we are always looking for new ways to improve and highlight the points of difference in the service we offer.
I love the phrase "becoming their agent before they need one". This to me emphasises importance of building relationship and trust, because as most of us know, sales people don't always get the best reputation. I would love to change that, well at least in our case anyway.
Why do you love Real Estate Plus?
AD: The culture, it’s not a cut throat office don't get me wrong there is competition which is great, but you know that you’re not going to get stabbed in the back the moment you turn around.
SM: It would have to be the team culture, I know Antony said much the same, but there is a real sense of working together and helping each other out is evident the sales team and across all departments.
Fun fact about yourself?
AD: I had a poem officially published when I was around 6 years old it was about snowmen.
SM: A fun fact, hmm…….Before I settled for a sensible VW Golf, I owned a modified Subaru WRX with a loud exhaust, I would pull up at the lights and hoons would want to race me.
